In addition to the assessment services described previously, CONSULTECH provides other assessment services, which are described below:
Hazardous and Non-Hazardous Wastes
- Identification and nature of release
- RCRA facility investigations and corrective measures studies
- Hazardous waste characterization
- Determination of horizontal and vertical extent of soil/groundwater contamination
- Identification of contaminant migration routes
Remedial Investigation
- Soil vapor extraction pilot tests
- Groundwater slug and pump tests
- Groundwater studies
- Air emissions sampling and testing
- Groundwater gradients and velocities
- Permeability and porosity determinations
Risk Assessment
CONSULTECH provides regulatory-accepted calculations/ modeling to evaluate contaminant exposure risks to human health and the environment. The estimated risks are then used to determine site- specific clean-up standards or make an argument that no remediation is required. Regulatory acceptance of "Risk-Based Corrective Action" (or RBCA) varies from one agency to the next. Therefore, we determine the governing agency's level of acceptance before undertaking an RBCA approach.
Clean-up goals for RBCA are determined by two factors:
- Evaluating the toxicity of contaminants, their routes, and their routes' level of exposure. (CONSULTECH keeps abreast of the most recent toxilogical data for contaminants and the latest regulatory-accepted methods for evaluating exposure risk.)
- Determining how the contaminants migrate through soil, groundwater or surface water. (For fate and transport modeling, CONSULTECH evaluates site hydrogeological data and contaminant-specific characteristics to graphically predict contaminant migration and degradation over time.)
